Having a good night’s sleep is important to your emotional wellbeing. The amount of sleep needed to feel well rested is different for everyone, but for most people 7.5 hours of sleep each night allows them to stay alert, be healthy, and function well in their day-to-day activities.

As we age, it becomes difficult to sleep well through the night. Having difficulty sleeping is called “disturbed sleep.” You may be suffering from disturbed sleep or a more serious condition called sleep apnea if:

  • You wake up feeling tired, irritable, or depressed
  • You are having memory difficulties
  • You have difficulty staying awake during the day
